Competition for Illustrations on Sherlock Holmes Book
TEHRAN.(Iranart) - T he Book Illustration Competition has invited entries for its new edition with a January 17, 2018 deadline. Launched in 2011, the annual event has since received thousands of entries from over 44 countries. It is a unique partnership between the House of Illustration, a public art gallery in London devoted to illustration, and The Folio Society, a private London-based publisher that seeks to identify and promote new talent in illustration.
According to the event website, each year entrants are asked to submit three illustrations and a binding design for a book chosen by Folio Society. For this year’s event, ‘The Selected Adventures and Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes’ by Arthur Conan Doyle has been selected.
The contest is open to illustrators over the age of 18 whose works have not been previously published by Folio.
The top winner receives a commission worth $6,500, to provide the book with a total of nine illustrations and a binding design, which is then published by Folio Society. Five runners-up will each receive $650 in cash.
