Novelist Javier Sierra Wins Planeta Award

TEHRAN.(Iranart) - S panish journalist and writer Javier Sierra has won this year’s Planeta prize for his novel ‘El Fuego Invisible’.

The Spanish literary prize, which comes with an award of 601,000 euros ($700,000), is the second most valuable literary award in the world after the Nobel Prize.

It has been awarded since 1952 by the Spanish publisher Group Planeta to an original novel written in Spanish.

According to Catalonia Today, Sierra is one of the Planeta publisher’s best-selling authors. Sierra first became a Planeta finalist in 2004, for his book ‘La Cena Secreta’ (The Secret Supper). The book also was in the top ten of The New York Times Best Seller list and has been published in 42 countries.

Sierra, 46, is a journalist, writer and researcher who studied journalism at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
