Asghar Farhadi begins shooting new film in Spain
TEHRAN.(Iranart) – The Iranian two-time Oscar-winning director Asghar Farhadi started the shooting of his new film titled “Everybody Knows” in the Spanish capital of Madrid on Monday.
Argentine star Ricardo Darin and the Oscar-winning Spanish couple, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, are the main members of the cast, Farhadi announced in a post sent on his official Telegram channel on Tuesday.
Eduard Fernández Serrano, Bárbara Lennie, Elvira Mínguez, Inma Cuesta, Roger Casamajor and Ramón Barea, all from Spain, will also star in the $12-13m project, which is being made as a French-Spanish-Italian co-production with Memento Films in France, Morena Films in Spain and Lucky Red in Italy.
The family drama and psychological thriller tells the story of Carolina who leaves Argentina to visit her family in Spain, but some unexpected accidents affect the visit.
The plot was developed four years ago before Farhadi began making his Oscar-winning drama “The Salesman”. He wrote the script and it was translated into Spanish.Pedro and Agustin Almodovar’s Madrid-based El Deseo will produce “Everybody Knows”, which is Farhadi’s second movie being shot in outside of his homeland. He directed “The Past” in Paris in 2012.
