TEHRAN –(Iranart)- Iranian animation “Kelileh & Demneh” has won the special prize of the jury in its premiere at the 13th Eurasia International Film Festival in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Directed by Alireza Tavakkoli-Bina and Zahra Hashemi, the film received the award in the Children’s Fest Competition during the closing ceremony of the event at in the Kazakhstan Central Concert Hall on July 28, Iran’s Farabi Cinema Foundation that is the producer of the movie announced on Tuesday.
The film is about Kelileh and Demneh, two young jackals. The story starts in the middle of a rainy night when a horrified owl pays a visit to the king of the jungle to report on the excessive hunting he has witnessed.
The grand prix in the main competition was presented to “Returnee” from Kazakhstan, while Aktan Arym Kubat from Kyrgyzstan won the best director award for his “Centaur”.
The best actress award went to Iya Shugliashvili from Georgia for her role in “My Happy Family” and Gurban Ismailov from Azerbaijan was picked as best actor for his role in “The Pomegranate Orchard”.
