Amir Naderi’s “Monte” hits silver screens in Tehran

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- The U.S.-based Iranian filmmaker Amir Naderi’s 2016 movie “Monte” is currently on screen at Tehran’s Art and Experience Cinemas dedicated to screening art films.

Starring Andrea Sartoretti and Claudia Potenza the 105-minute drama was filmed in Italy in the mountainous regions of Alto Adige and Friuli.

The film tells the story of a man who makes every attempt to bring the sunlight into his village, where his family is barely able to survive because of the prevailing darkness.

Naderi, whose 1985 movie “The Runner” attracted worldwide attention, received the Jaeger-LeCoultre Glory to the Filmmaker Award, an honor that is given to original and innovative contributors to contemporary cinema, at the 73rd Venice Film Festival in September 2016.

He was also honored with the Camillo Marino lifetime achievement award at the 41st edition of the Laceno d’Oro Film Festival in December 2016.
