IIDCYA to unwrap “Mysterious Gift” for children

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- “Mysterious Gift”, a puppet show by director Meysam Yusefi, will be restaged at the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) in Tehran next week.

The play has been written by Atsa Shamlu based on Russian writer Samuil Marshak’s fairy tale “The Twelve Months”, the IIDCYA announced in a press release on Tuesday.

It narrates the story of a princess who wishes a basket of primrose on her birthday night celebration on Yalda Night, and anyone who can bring the flowers will receive a basket of gold instead.

The play aims to put the spotlight on Iranian fairy tales being narrated by grandfathers and grandmothers during Yalda Night, the last night of the fall season and the longest night of the year.

The play will have its first performance on February 3 at the IIDCYA, and will be running until the end of winter.

“Mysterious Gift” was staged in Tehran in spring 2018.
