TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Iranian actor Vahid Raad used a photocall for his latest movie “As I Lay Dying” at the 75th Venice International Film Festival on Thursday to convey an anti-war message to U.S. President Donald Trump.

During the photocall, Raad showed his palm bearing an inscription in English reading, “I don’t have a gun in my hand Mr. Trump, do you?”

“As I Lay Dying” directed by Mostafa Sayyari will be screened in the Orizzonti Competition, which is dedicated to films that represent the latest aesthetic and expressive trends in international cinema.

Iranian actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya is a member of the jury for this category.

In the Orizzonti Short Films category, “Staircase” by Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Banihashemi is competing with 13 other movies.

“Brick and Mirror”, UK-based Iranian filmmaker Ebrahim Golestan’s 1964 drama, is scheduled to go on screen in the Venezia Classic, a section dedicated to restored classics from world cinema.
