“The Survivor” producer Manuchehr Asgari-Nasab dies

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Manuchehr Asgari-Nasab, the producer of “The Survivor”, Iranian director Seifollah Daad’s acclaimed drama on a Palestinian woman, has died, Persian media reported on Monday.

His funeral procession will begin at the Iranian House of Cinema tomorrow.

“The Survivor” is based on Palestinian author Ghassan Kanafani’s novel “Returning to Haifa”. It tells the story of a Palestinian couple who goes back to Haifa after the 1967 war to look for their baby, whom they were forced to leave behind in the war of 1948.

Born in 1936 in Kerman, Asgari-Nasab was a graduate of cinema from the University of Michigan.

He began his career by making TV documentaries.

“Hey Joe” and “Long Autumn” are among the films he directed. He also collaborated in different projects as a film producer. His credits include “The Spouse” by director Mehdi Fakhimzadeh and “The Suitcase” by Jalal Moqaddam.
