TEHRAN.(Iranart) - Iranian documentary ‘Lotus’ directed by Mohammadreza Vatandoust has made it into the official screening program of 21st Cervino Cinemountain International Festival in Italy.

Vatandoust’s documentary ‘Lotus’ is the sole representative of the Iranian cinema at the 21st Cervino Cinemountain International Festival, enjoying its second international screening.

‘Lotus’ will be vying for the festival’s top prize with ten other titles from the US, Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Sweden, etc., all having their first screening in Italy.

The Iranian documentary narrates the story of an old women who has been waiting for 12 years to get permission to set foot on an island and visit its sole resident.

Cervino Cinemountain International Festival takes place at the foot of the Matterhorn (Cervino) in the Aosta Valley, Italy. The festival is dedicated to mountain films, and, according to the event's website, "offers a selection of top quality works which portray the mountains under all their different facets: environment, climate, adventure, sport, culture and history."

The festival Cervino Cinemountain hosts documentaries and fiction films. The 21st edition of the event will be held on 3-12 August 2018.

‘Lotus’ first international screening was at the 25th Sheffield International Documentary Festival in the UK on in June 2018.
