“No Date, No Signature” wins jury prize at Serbian filmfest

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – Iranian director Vahid Jalilvand acclaimed movie “No Date, No Signature” has won the special jury prize at the Belgrade International Film Festival – FEST in Serbia.

The film received the prize because it “elaborates on the question of guilt and responsibility in a simple and powerful way, supported by an excellent cast,”, the jury said in their statement during the closing ceremony of the event last Monday.

“No Date, No Signature” tells the story of Dr. Nariman, a forensic pathologist who has a car accident with a motorcyclist and injures his 8-year-old son.

The Belgrade Victor for Best Film was awarded to the Sweden-based Iranian director Milad Alami for his debut film “The Charmer”.

Alami received the award in person and said that he was thankful for the recognition which meant a great deal to him as the impetus for further work.

Paul Schrader from the U.S. received the award for best director for “First Reformed”. 

Adel Karam won the award for best actor for his role in “The Insult”, a coproduction between Lebanon and France, while the entire female ensemble from the cast of “Angels Wear White”, a joint production between China and France, received best actress award.
