4 Iran Entries at Nepal Human Rights Film Festival

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- F our films by Iranian filmmakers will be shown at the 6th Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival, slated for March 7-10.

 

 

Based in the capital Kathmandu, the festival intends to establish a forum for advancing human rights through screening films.

The 15-minute short film ‘It Rains Slowly’ directed by Saeed Nejati is one of the entries, Mehr News Agency reported.

It is a joint product of Qom Youth Cinema Society and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality from Turkey. The film is set in Turkey just before the 1980 coup d’état, narrating the story of a teacher who teaches his students about freedom and how to fight injustice.

Short documentary ‘Compatriot’ by Mahtab Soleimani is another Iran production at the festival. It is about a young woman and her daughter who leave Afghanistan after civil war breaks out in the improvised country in 1978 and seek refuge in Iran.

The two other Iranian works are the feature animation ‘Release From Heaven’ by Ali Nouri Oskoiie and short animated film ‘Pink’ by Mahboobeh Mohammadzaki. 

Story of the 86-minute Release From Heaven is set in a war-torn country and is about a woman teacher and her two students as they go on a life-changing journey. 

Pink is a 5-minute animation that portrays a part of life of a woman suffering from breast cancer.
