IAF Hosting Image of Year and Tassvir Film Festival
TEHRAN –(Iranart)- T he 15th Image of the Year and Tassvir Film Festival was inaugurated at the Iranian Artists Forum in Tehran on Wednesday.
Featuring sections of image and film, the event started with an exhibition of images in the competition categories of photography, poster, graphics and caricature at the IAF galleries namely Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Mirmiran, Nami and Momayez, ISNA reported.
The festival will run through March 11. The photos are in various categories including social documentary, fresh look, sports, art, remote places and mobile photography.
Members of the selection committee who evaluated the photos are photographers Mohammad Farnoud and Behnam Sadiqi as well as photojournalist, documentarian and chief editor of Ghahveh monthly magazine Nader Davoudi.
The caricatures were evaluated by cartoonist and graphic designer Kambiz Derambakhsh; author, poet painter, graphic designer and caricaturist Ardeshir Rostami; and cartoonist and caricaturist Javad Alizadeh. As for the posters, the jury included graphic artists Maryam Kahvand, Iman Safaee and Mehdi Fatehi.
Those who evaluated the film entries included cinematographer Mohammad Aladpoush and film directors Narges Abyar and Abolfazl Jalili. Shahnaz Hall of the IAF screens the selected movies. ‘Sheeple,’ a 2018 feature film by actor, screenwriter and film director Houman Seyedi, was screened on the first day of the festival. The movie won several awards at the 36th Fajr Film Festival, February 1-11 in Tehran.
Among other notable films to be shown at the event are short films ‘Not Yet’ by Aryan Vazir-Daftari and ‘Animal’ by Ark brothers Bahram and Bahman; as well as a feature named ‘Amir’ by Nima Eqlima. The last two were also screened during the 36th FFF and ‘Animal’ won the Crystal Simorgh for best short film.
Supported by Iran Cinema Organization, Tassvir Film Festival line-up includes a selection of entries to the Fajr Film Festival, Cinema Verite, Tehran International Short Film Festival and House of Cinema Celebration.
Organized by Tassvir magazine, the festival is considered a major image-related event in the country.
IAF is located at Artists Park on Iranshahr Street.
