Storytelling Fest at IIDCYA

TEHRAN.(Iranart) - T he Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in Tehran will host storytellers from Iran and the world at the 20th International Storytelling Festival. Slated for January 21-25, the event will be held at the IIDCYA Cultural and Artistic Creation Center located on Hejab Street, Keshavarz Blvd., Mehr News Agency reported.

The festival includes categories of story writing, storytelling and research. Storytelling category comprises educational and folklore sections as well as a section for the works presenting ‘Shahnameh’ (Book of Kings), the long epic poem written by the celebrated Persian poet Ferdowsi (940-1020).

Jury members of the festival are authors Soudabeh Amini, Kamran Sharaf-Shahi and Mostafa Rahmandoust.

In the story writing section, they reviewed 76 stories submitted from the provinces and selected three works, namely: ‘Do You Understand Leyla?’ by Marzieh Fa’lehgari and ‘We Are All Pilgrims Here’ by Masoumeh Karimi from Hamedan Province, as well as ‘Under the Sun’ by Asieh Rahmati from Khuzestan Province. The event has a particular focus on educational topics and subjects promoting Iranian-Islamic lifestyle. Foreign storytellers have been invited to the competition section since last year.
