Fartousi’s First Feature Film Awarded in Brazil

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – F eature film ‘Mother, I’m Joseph’, by Iranian director Mohammadreza Fartousi was granted the award for best film in the competition section of the third Bahía Independent Cinema Festival in Brazil, December 8-12.

 According to an email from the public relations manager of the film Mansour Jahani, the movie had its global premiere last week at the 6th Delhi International Film Festival (December 4-9) and the Brazilian event was its second international presence. Fartousi’s directorial debut, made in Arabic language, is a joint production of Iran, Iraq and Kuwait and has Zahra Alrabiei, Abbas Ghazali, Hamideh Mousavi, Ahmad Heidari and Hamid Hamidi in the cast. Its story is about Joseph, an Iraqi soldier during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war, who refuses to fight. He is arrested by the army and disappears for a long time. However, to the astonishment of family and friends, he returns after 21 years. The third edition of Bahía Independent Cinema Festival, held in the city of Salvador de Bahia, screened films from Japan, Australia, Spain, Germany, Mexico, Belgium, Nepal, Peru, Hong Kong, France, and Iran.
