Short Film ‘Lunch Time’ Going to LSFF

TEHRAN.(Iranart) – I ranian short film ‘Lunch Time’ is to vie at the 15th London Short Film Festival (LSFF), slated for January 12-21.

The 16-minute short film, directed by Alireza Qasemi,   is to be screened on January 15 in the event’s competition section, Mehr News Agency reported.  

Qasemi’s film is the story of a 16-year-old girl who has come to hospital to identify the body of her mother, but is not allowed to enter the morgue because she is underage.

Moreover, on January 17, the festival will be showing ‘The House Is Black’, the only film directed by the influential Iranian poet and filmmaker, Forough Farrokhzad (1935-1967).

The film is widely regarded as one of the greatest Iranian documentaries of all time and depicts an isolated community of lepers living in Tabriz, capital city of East Azarbaijan Province. The documentary is sound-tracked by segments of one of Farrokhzad’s poems, recited by the author herself. During the screening the English translation of this poem will be read aloud.

This rare screening will be accompanied by readings of Farrokhzad’s poetry and a discussion of her legacy in Iranian cinema, culture and society.
