APSA Mention for Mohammadzadeh

TEHRAN –(Iranart)- C elebrated actor Navid Mohammadzadeh received a special mention for best performance by an actor at the 11th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) on November 23 at a ceremony in Brisbane, Australia. After receiving the prize, the actor dedicated it to the victims of the recent 7.3 earthquake in Kermanshah Province.

The quake that hit Kermanshah in western Iran and the regions bordering Iraq on November 12 killed at least 437 people, injured over 10,000 and left thousands homeless. Mohammadzadeh, 31, was granted the award for his role in the internationally acclaimed feature film ‘No Date, No Signature’ directed by Vahid Jalilvand, Honaronline reported. While receiving the award, he said, “at the time of crisis, our people unite regardless of their political orientations and beliefs, as was seen after the recent natural disaster in west of the country. On behalf of all Iranians, I dedicate this award to the quake-stricken people”. In another humanitarian gesture, on November 14 he dedicated the award he had won at the 10th Bratislava International Film Festival, Slovakia, to the afflicted people of Kermanshah. Based in Brisbane, Australia the Asia Pacific Screen Awards acknowledge cinematic excellence from 70 countries and regions, and recognize filmmaking that best reflect cultural traits. “Over the years, thousands of films from the Asia Pacific region have competed in the APSAs, films that demonstrate a rich slate of diversity - each telling its own story, in its own way, from its country of origin. That is what the Asia Pacific Screen Awards respect and acclaim,” the event’s website says.
